What is udctl

Honestly? It's a lot of things.

An agile tracker
boards, sprints, backlog, burndown — the loop you would otherwise run in Jira.
A knowledge base
every card is a Markdown document; notes, full-text search, a graph of links — the pages you would otherwise keep in Confluence.
A local notes folder
ud pull lays your tasks out as plain .md files Obsidian opens as a vault; ud push them back. Sync ships with self-hosting — nothing you buy on top — and image attachments manage themselves: pulled down as ![[…]] embeds, pushed back onto the card.
A virtual file tree
tasks, files, skills, diagrams — all hanging on one folder tree you browse like a file manager.
A ledger
expenses, budgets, accounts — multi-currency.
A calendar, plus a Gantt chart
kickoffs and deadlines on a month grid, and on a timeline.
A kubectl-style CLI
ud get, ud apply — the same cards, from your terminal.
An agent orchestra
hire a team of specialist agents — group them, hand off work, wake them on schedule; plus a butler living in your Telegram.
… self-hosted
the whole thing runs on your own machine — free for personal use, with no per-seat line on any bill.

Sounds like a lot to learn? It would be — if you were the one operating it.

You don't have to. Leave one sentence on any card — @dev fix this bug — and that sentence starts an agent session: bound to the card, progress written back onto it, the result replied right under your words. Board, CLI, chat — one copy of the data underneath. Your AI drives all of it; you learn none of it.

You just chat.
Alfred handles the rest.

A private butler living in your Telegram: he understands, remembers, delegates, tracks — and results return to the chat.

Note this down: pricing page on the website by next Wednesday. And have someone look at that login bug from this morning.

Noted. I've created the pricing-page task and assigned it to webdev, due next Wednesday. The login bug is with prod-debug. I'll ping you when there's news.

—— two hours later ——

Login bug is fixed — expired sessions weren't refreshing. Pricing-page draft preview link coming tomorrow morning.

How udctl is put together
